Victoria Pendleton Opens Up About Depression and Developing an Eating Disorder

Sports star Victoria Pendleton has opened up about how depression and anxiety put her in a "really bad place" and even led her to contemplate suicide.  

Speaking to Sarah Ann Macklin for her podcast Live Well Be Well, the British gold medallist opened up about the moment she reached "rock bottom."

“I really felt very isolated and lonely and I never thought that I could feel so vulnerable. I’d tell myself… You’re an Olympic champion, you can fight your way out of this and then fail to get out of that hole. Day after day, after day, it really broke my confidence.” 

“I was probably about five months total where I was in a really bad place. I had two counsellors, I tried different types of medication and I think I fell down the trap that many people do" she said.
