Live Well, Be Well; Series Two

Wendy Rowe

“Hair and makeup, it’s trying to make people feel good. Yes we put it on the face, on the hair, but we need to encourage it from the inside. And we all have our own issues too.”

Makeup artist and creative director of Max Factor, Wendy Rowe encourages people to speak out about mental health issues and to normalise these in a world which is so used to judging those struggling. “It’s ok to have anxiety, it’s ok to be scared and pushed outside of your comfort zone.”

Addressing the misconception that models have an easier life due to their looks and career choice, Wendy speaks about issues including low self esteem, lack of self worth and anxiety that she herself, has witnessed many models face, due to the high pressure of the industry and constant judgement placed on aesthetics within fashion.

She admits that it is not only models, but the entire fashion community, including herself that experience these challenges. Wendy opens up about the anxiety issues she battled early in her career and how using self improving techniques such as exercise and meditation enabled her to reduce stress and over time, overcome these challenges.

Nutrition has also played a huge part in Wendy’s life. Cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients to nourish her body and lift mood, she is an advocate of healthy eating and cooking from scratch to nourish from the inside out.
